In certain cases and for certain metal parts, reflections can interfere with reading performance.
Below are the various settings for the Powerscan 9600 depending on the type of engraved surface.

The Color RED, WHITE or BLUE defines the illumination emitted by the reader.

AUTO - IPDS00
 
MACHINED - IPDS01 -  RED  &  WHITE 

 
FIXED DOT-PEEN - IPDS02 -  WHITE 
Default Settings:
Red and white light (Target 5cm).
Addressing mainly machined surface:
This option is for dot peening codes (Target 3cm):
SHINY - IPDS03 -  BLUE 
 
CYLINDRICAL - IPDS04 -  BLUE 
This option is for shiny surfaces, typically flat (Target 2cm):
This option is for cylindrical surfaces (Target 2cm).
In case of shiny and cylindrical use this configuration:
