🧾 Description

This article contains the steps for forcing a device connection to Aladdin 3.x, which is useful when the scanner is in USB Keyboard Emulation Interface mode but the customer wants to connect the scanner to Aladdin directly.

🛠️ Resolution Steps

STEP 1 -  Go to the 'Tools/Settings' menu in the top right-hand corner and select the 'Force Device Connection' option.

STEP 2 – When the following browser appears, please select one of the connection options. You can either reconnect the USB reader while pressing the trigger, or scan the barcode and wait for the USB-HID connection to appear.

* If you wish to connect a base charger, please bear in mind that the trigger will either be the capacitive button located on the base (Gryphon and PowerScan models) or the hidden internal micro-trigger situated at the base's bottom (QuickScan models).

STEP 3 – After clicking on 'Connect Device', you can enter the scanner configuration that will be recognised as a USB virtual COM port. However, the interface will remain the same as when it was connected: USB-KBD.
STEP 4 – If an interface change is required, this will be the first change applied to the device, followed by the other desired configuration parameters, such as data format and code selection. When you have finished configuring the device, click Write Configuration to apply the changes. Aladdin will then show a pop-up window displaying the commands sent. Once you have finished, you can close Aladdin.
