🧾 Description
On Datalogic Skorpio X3 and Memor X3 devices running Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7), users may encounter a Wi-Fi status labeled “Externally Disabled” in the SCU (Summit Client Utility). This status indicates that the Wi-Fi radio has been disabled by an external application.
Cause
- The “Externally Disabled” status typically appears when a third-party application (not integrated into the device firmware) has taken control of the radio and disabled it.
- This can occur due to custom apps, MDM tools, or misconfigured utilities installed on the device.
🛠️ Resolution Steps
1. Perform a Clean Boot
A clean boot resets the device to factory configuration and clears any third-party interference.
Steps:
- Press and hold ESC + ENT + POWER simultaneously to initiate a cold boot.
- When the screen goes black, quickly release all keys.
- Within 1 second, press and hold ESC + 0 until the Clean Boot confirmation screen appears.
- Press 1 to confirm and proceed with the clean boot.
