🧾 Description

Our Mobile (Star Radio) or BlueTooth (BlueTooth) devices support a function called Batch Mode, the implementation of such function allows us to keep working with our devices, even when outside the range of the radio their are connected to, be it a Radio Base, a BT Base, a Stardongle, a direct HID link for BT devices, etc.

The storing function can be easily implemented following the articles KA-01189 and KA-01188 created by our colleague Paul Kasperek, he gives us the specific codes to program the function on devices with different syntax, please refer to the articles to find the appropriate codes for your device.

The storing function of the Batch Mode is activated when the device loses connection to its link, once the scanner has been appropriately programmed for it of course as by default the function is not activated on any device. After losing connection the device will write the scanned codes either onto its RAM memory, if the Mode selected was Automatic, or onto its Flash memory if the Mode selected was Manual.

The two Modes differ in another aspect too, which I believe to be crucial to understand before choosing which one to go for.

Automatic Mode activates storing of the codes as soon as connection is lost and sends them to the linked host as soon as connection is regained, immediately and with no action required from the operator. This can be really good if the linked host is only available for that particular job/task, and can be problematic if instead someone else is using the PC/System, as the labels will be transmitted immediately and irreversibly, and if not received properly, for example because someone minimized the label acquiring software's page to do something else on the PC/System, they are lost and the work will have to be started again.

Manual Mode activates storing of the codes as soon as connection is lost and sends them to the linked host as soon as the Send Batch label is scanned, previous re-connection is also required of course. this Mode can be more laborious, but it is safer if the PC/System is used for several tasks. It has to be said the scanned codes, once sent using the Send Batch function, are lost too. They are not kept on memory, there is a dedicated code to scan to erase the memory, in the event wrong labels were scanned, but it will only work before using the Send Batch command.

The current Powerscan96xx is able to keep the scanned labels until voluntarily deleted, even after sending them.
