This article outlines the steps to restore the Windows 10 IoT operating system on a Datalogic Rhino II using a USB flash drive and the imageUSB utility.
Requirements
- USB Flash Drive (8GB or larger)
- RhinoWin10IoT.zip firmware image file from Datalogic

Preparation Steps
Download imageUSB Utility

- Visit the link above and download the utility.
- Extract the files to your PC.
Download and Prepare Firmware
- Download RhinoWin10IoT.zip from Datalogic.
- Extract the .bin file from the ZIP archive.
Format USB Drive
- Use FAT32 format for compatibility.
Creating the Restore USB
- Insert the USB flash drive into your PC.
- Launch imageUSB.
- Select the USB drive in Step 1.
- In Step 2, choose Write image to USB drive.
- In Step 3, browse to and select the extracted RhinoWin10IoT.bin file.
- Click Create to write the image to the USB drive.
Restoring the Rhino II
- Power off the Rhino II.
- Insert the prepared USB flash drive into the Rhino II.
- Power on the device.
- The Rhino II should boot into the backup/restore screen.
- If it does not, contact support — a replacement CFast card may be needed.
- Select System Restore.
Highlight the available image (only one should appear).
Click Restore.
- The process takes approximately 15 minutes.
Once complete:
- Remove the USB flash drive.
- Power down the terminal.
- Power it back on without the USB inserted.
Outcome
The Rhino II should boot into a freshly restored Windows 10 IoT environment.
