Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) are a set of proprietary enhancements developed by Cisco to extend the capabilities of standard 802.11 wireless LAN (WLAN) protocols. CCX features are only effective when the client device connects to a Cisco enterprise-class WLAN (not consumer-grade Cisco-Linksys gear). Devices that support CCX can be certified by Cisco, which is often a requirement for large organizations using Cisco wireless networks.
