How to Upgrade the OS firmware on a Memor20
You can use the Datalogic DXU application to do upgrades.  However, that is not the intention of this document.  The process below illustrates how to do a manual or what the industry calls a side load for updating the OS.

  1. Download firmware file from appropriate web site or Link.   The firmware file will come as a Zip file.   DO NOT unzip.   You will copy the zip file in its entirety to the Memor20 Internal Storage.
  2. Connect to your PC via USB C cable.
  3. After the M20 has been connected to the PC via USB.  Turn on the M20 if it’s not on.
  4. Go to the top of the screen and swipe down.

  1. Find the “Android System – Charging this device via USB” notification and tap it.

  1. The notification should expand.

  1. Tap the notification again to display “USB Preferences” and then tap the “Use USB for” “File Transfer” radio button.

  1. Close the USB Preferences window by tapping the bottom soft button.

This process should allow the M20 to communicate to your PC and you should see it in your PC File Explorer as pictured below.

  1. Go to where you saved the unzipped Firmware file, right click it, and click copy to copy the zip file.   Important Note: Do not unzip the Android OS Firmware file.

  1. Use your PC File Explorer, find the Memor20 device, double Click it to display the M20 Internal shared storage, and then Paste the file into Internal shared storage.

If you double tap on Internal shared storage it should display the Android Folder system and at the bottom you should see the OS zip file you copied to the M20.

  1. After the file has been copied to the M20, and you have verified it is on the M20, you can disconnect the USB cable from the M20.   Go to the M20 and again swipe down from the top and continue to pull down until you see the Settings Icon (Gear Icon) and then tap it.

  1. The M20 Settings screen should be displayed.  Find the Datalogic Settings option and tap it.

  1. The Datalogic Settings screen should now be displayed.  Find the System Update option and tap it.

  1. The System Upgrade screen should be displayed.   Tap Local upgrade.

  1. The Recent window should display.  Tap the hamburger icon to display the Open from window.

  1. Select Memor 20 to access the Internal shared storage area of the file system.

  1. The M20 Internal shared storage is displayed.  Find the Q10_WWAN… file and tap it to select it as the file to be used in the OS upgrade process.

  1. Select INSTALL UPDATE to start the OS upgrade process.

  1. Messages will be displayed on the screen as it updates the OS.

  1. The process will take a while to complete.  You can check the status by dragging down from the top of the screen.

  1. After the process completes the M20 will display a System upgrade “The update has been successfully applied!” screen.  Tap REBOOT NOW to restart the M20 with the new OS.

  1. The M20 will reboot and you should see a “System upgrade” “System updates” “Firmware update success!” message on the locked Home screen.

  1. Swipe up to access the UX Android home screen after reboot.

To verify the firmware version go to Settings (Gear Icon).   Scroll to the bottom and tap “System” and then “About phone”.
Scroll to the bottom again and look for the “Build number”.   This will tell you the DL OS firmware version.

  1. The OS has been updated at this point.  Depending on the status of deployment the user may or may not want to perform a Factory reset of the M20.  If the user would like to have a Factory clean image then they can go into Settings/System and select Advanced.  After clicking Advanced the “Reset options” option should be displayed.

  1. Select “Reset options” to select the “Erase all data (factory reset)” option and then tap RESET PHONE to perform a Factory reset.

  1. Please note that performing the “Erase all data (factory reset)” process will wipe the entire OS clean.  All applications, files, and previous configuration settings will be set back to a Factory default condition.
