This articles explains how to update older PowerScan PBT9500 scanners to work with newer BC91xx-BT cradles running the new radio addresses.
🛠️ Resolution Steps
First it will be necessary to put Aladdin into Developer mode. Right click Aladdin icon and go to properties. On the shortcut tab go to target and add to the end of the data: [space]+d
Now when you open Aladdin it will be in developer mode
Go to Tools > Check for Updated Configuration Library on Web
Wait for Aladdin to search for files and then select Update to make sure you have all the latest firmware version loaded.
To update the firmware for a PBT9501 to a PBT9500
Go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade
Select Load Firmware File
Select Config Repository
Navigate to the Powerscan BT9531_610125912 folder
Select the 610125912.dfw file
Uncheck “Check PID”
Uncheck “Upgrade application”
Check “Upgrade boot”
Select the appropriate Port Connection based on the cable type you are using (e.g. Firmware Upgrade with a USB cable)
Follow onscreen instructions and wait for progress bar to complete
Go back to Tools > Firmware Upgrade
Make sure the Load firmware file is set to 610125912.dfw
Uncheck “Check PID”
Check “Upgrade Application”
Check “Upgrade Boot”
Select the appropriate Port Connection based on the cable type you are using (e.g. Firmware Upgrade with a USB cable)
Follow onscreen instructions and wait for progress bar to complete
Your older PBT9500 should now be compatible with the current BC91xx-BT bases running the new radio addresses.
