Extended Channel interpretation (ECI) is an extension to the communication protocol that is used to transmit data from a barcode reader to a host when a barcode symbol is scanned. This article provides steps to configure the scanner in order to work for all the ECI prefixes, excluding them the final output, independently from the encoding choice. This special configuration is applied to QR Code and Datamatrix code families.
Current products like QuickScan 2500, Gryphon 4500 and PowerScan 9600 already have a specific parameter for disabling ECI transmission, so it´s not necessary to use the above configuration.
